State Requirements For the State of Utah

Utah State Requirement Details for Real Estate Sales Agent Pre-Licensing Education

Hours Required by the State: 120 hours

Note: An individual shall pass both the state and national components of the sales agent licensing examination within 12 months of the date on which the individual completes the prelicensing education. Application for licensure shall be submitted within 90 days of the date on which the individual achieves passing scores on both examination components.

Licensing Exam: The licensing exam is administered by Pearson.  Registration for the state licensing exam is an entirely separate process from proctoring for your course final exam. For instructions to register for your state licensing exam and further information, please click here.

  • Do NOT fingerprint prior to submitting the application to the Division of Real Estate: Applicants must not have their fingerprints taken before submitting their license application.

  • Do NOT fingerprint at the time of testing: Fingerprinting will no longer be conducted at the testing center during the exam.

  • Wait for the Authorization Form: After an applicant submits their online application to the Division of Real Estate, we will email them a Fingerprint Authorization Form the following business day.

Stringham Schools Offering: 120 hours

Reporting: The state does not require schools to report course completions. 

Expiration Date of Course: Course expiration dates vary by course. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in your account.

Stringham Schools Pre-Licensing courses expire one year after the date of purchase. Stringham Schools will allow students to purchase a new course at a 50% discount of the current retail price of the new course. Each individual course will have an expiration date listed in the student’s account.

Certificates: Immediately upon course completions, Stringham Schools will provide students with an electronic copy of the course certificate of completion. Certificates will remain in your account for a minimum of five years, should you need additional copies at a later time. Please refer to your application to determine if you need to submit your certificate(s) of completion. Course completion dates are recorded using Central Standard Time. Please note that the date on your certificate of completion will reflect this.

Max Hours in a 24-Hour Period: Licensees will not receive credit for more than 8 hours of pre-licensing education in a 24-hour period. Our online course delivery system manages this requirement for you.
